Economic Development Programs
The Georgia Chamber of Commerce Red Carpet Tour® and Georgia Quail Hunt (formerly the Fall Feather Hunt) are among the finest economic development programs in the country. Since 1994, guests of the two events have announced nearly $4.5 billion in new or expanded business investments in Georgia while creating more than 22,500 jobs statewide.
Held annually, the Red Carpet Tour® and Georgia Quail Hunt showcase Georgia's enviable business environment to corporate decision makers from all over the globe. The "soft-sell" approach used by hosts on the events makes guests feel right at home in Georgia. Guests are able to learn about Georgia's business community without feeling the pressure of a sales pitch.
Red Carpet Tour®
Beginning in 1959, the Red Carpet Tour® draws CEOs from all over the world for a four-day look at the state's thriving economic climate every April. The Red Carpet Tour®, which centers around The Masters®, golf's most storied major championship, takes corporate guests to metro Atlanta, metro Augusta and one other region of the state each year.
Guests fly around the state aboard Red Carpet One, a chartered Delta Air Lines jet. The Tour traditionally kicks off with a Wednesday night reception and dinner at the Governor's Mansion hosted by the Governor and First Lady. Thursday morning, the Tour flies to the Augusta region to learn more about Augusta's business community before spending the day on the grounds of Augusta National Golf Course for the opening round of The Masters® golf tournament. Friday takes the guests to another region of Georgia to visit with business and community leaders and hear from area executives about the advantages of doing business in Georgia. On Saturday, the group returns to Augusta to watch the third round of The Masters®.
During the past 12 years, Red Carpet Tour® guests have created approximately 15,000 jobs in Georgia while investing more than $3.2 billion in new or expanded operations.
Georgia Quail Hunt
The Georgia Quail Hunt is the newly restructured Fall Feather Hunt. The Fall Feather Hunt began in 1988, and was traditionally held in December. The first Georgia Quail Hunt will be held in February 2007. Corporate guests from across America and around the world will gather in southwest Georgia for the Georgia Quail Hunt. In partnership with the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, the Southwest Georgia Chamber Council and Georgia Allies, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce hosts the Hunt to three days of world-class quail hunting and southern hospitality.
The Georgia Quail Hunt takes guests to some of the south's most pristine hunting preserves to enjoy the peaceful beauty and serenity of Georgia's abundant natural resources. Guests are treated to a look at the state in a no pressure setting that provides plenty of rest and relaxation.
The Hunt kicks off with a day of skeet shooting and safety instruction followed by a reception and quail dinner at one of Albany's world famous plantations, hosted by Georgia's Lt. Governor. The Governor of Georgia hosts the second evening of the Hunt at a location determined from year-to-year in Albany or the surrounding area. During the next two days, corporate executives and state hosts comb the woods of several plantations for the bobwhite quail, Georgia's famous game bird, while networking and learning about Georgia's pro-business environment.
Since 1994, guests from previous Hunts have brought 7,400 jobs to Georgia while announcing $1.25 billion in new or expanded investments.
