Campaign Hits $1.4 Million, 555 Members; Final Push Underway
Zero to $1.4 million in 21 weeks! Not a wish; a reality. And, it’s not over yet. In fact, every day, campaign workers in all parts of the state are adding dollars and new members and watching overall drive totals rise.
Mindful of several significant campaign incentive deadlines, they are using the closing days in November to lock in deals and round up members who have been lingering on the “call back” list. It’s paying off.
Week 21 saw some spectacular numbers added to the board, including three volunteers reporting five-digit production for the period. Frank Boyd (Georgia Power) topped the list with $10,500, followed by Mendel Lay (Wachovia Bank), also turning in $10,500. Kevin Sessions (TalentQuest) was just inches behind with $10,000. Also on the top five list for the week was Teresa Greenwood (Atlanta Gas Light) reporting $5,920 and Jack Morris (Wachovia Bank), with $1,175.
Two big campaign incentive trips remain on the calendar. On December 12th, more than 50 volunteers and their guests will spend a full day in New York City, courtesy of AirTran Airways. The group will fly up in the morning, choose their activity, and then return to Georgia in the evening. The “AirTran Day in New York” is one of the campaign’s most popular activities.
But the prize that may be responsible for all the last minute activity is the post-campaign evaluation excursion, a five-day, four-night outing to Aruba, which comes in mid-January. It’s the big one and only top producers will qualify. But, when the big Delta jet departs Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, as many as 80 of its passengers will be Team Georgia Chamber ’07 volunteers. The exact number will be known on November 26th, when qualifying ends.
This year marks the 11th consecutive statewide Georgia Chamber membership campaign and each one has been successful. Looking back on all that has happened since the drive kicked off in late June, Dr. J. David Allen (Dr. J. David Allen and Associates, Consultants to the Healthcare Industry), who is 2007 Chair of the Georgia Chamber, expressed gratitude and pride. “We are certainly indebted to our volunteers for all their hard work in the campaign. Their success is a tribute to them, the fine Georgia companies they represent and the reputation of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce,” Dr. Allen said. “We look ahead and see a full agenda facing us at the 2008 session of the Georgia General Assembly. We need to enter the new year strong and ready for action. Thanks to this campaign, we will.”
Thirteen Georgia Chamber-member companies are Signature Sponsors of the ’07 campaign. They are: Aaron’s; AirTran; Ambling Companies; Atlanta Gas Light; Bank of America; Deloitte; General Electric; IBM; MACTEC; Oglethorpe Power; Troutman Sanders LLP; United Community Bank; and Verizon Wireless.
